Personalized, video-taped coaching in small groups.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Diversity populations face a constant challenge in overcoming unconscious bias. To be seen as capable of moving into more senior levels, they must close the perceptual gap and be recognized as leaders.

This is two-days of personalized, video-taped coaching for small groups of management-level participants from diversity populations. Building on the one day program, the additional day provides time to work on and resolve the perceptual challenges they face.

COACHING ROI: Builds a pipeline of talent with the diversity of thought, backgrounds and experiences that drives innovation and growth. Leaders know exactly what to do to up their game and they’re motivated to do it. Expect to see immediate results.

Executive Presence Coaching

Participant Challenge:
“I’m told I do a great job, but I’m not seen as having executive presence.”
“The session was the perfect blend of behavioral science, managing and addressing perceptions, specific strategies to manage both verbal and non-verbal cues and communication, and a plethora of skill building opportunities to practice.’”
– Program Director, National African-American Women’s Leadership Institute

 Participant Challenge:
“As a black male, if I come across as confident, I may be misread as aggressive. So I’m extremely careful about how I present myself.”

GROUP SIZE/SELECTION:

10 – 12 working with 2 coaches, from all levels of management who are ready, open, and willing.

OUTCOMES

  • Neutralize the effect of unconscious bias in others
  • Develop command presence with relaxed confidence
  • Close the gap around Executive Maturity
  • Learn how to distill the message and bottom-line information
  • Eliminate behavior patterns that undermine credibility
  • Command greater levels of respect
  • Establish credibility and build rapport
  • Project calm, confidence, and focus under pressure
  • Increase potential to move to the next level

METHODOLOGY

The day of transformational results begins with an overview of how non-verbal behaviors communicate power and status. Through multiple videotaped coaching sessions, each participant finds the specific combination of subtle behaviors that conveys their own brand of executive presence.

RESULTS: A True Rock Star

On paper, “Miranda” was a rock star. Her VP wanted to promote her. But he said he couldn’t — because she wasn’t seen as having “It”. He said: “You need to come across with more authority. You need to show you can handle pressure. You need to own the room.” He could describe it in general terms, but couldn’t say specifically what she needed to do to close the gap in perception. And, working harder wasn’t the answer.

Two months after we coached her, she presented to the Senior Leadership team and 1000 of their top users. She knocked it out of the park! The entire executive team saw that she would be unflappable if challenged, that she could be commanding and bold.

RESULT: Within a month, Miranda was promoted to Senior Marketing Manager.
